What can I expect of my Nanny in London or Overseas:

A nanny is there both to inspire and encourage your child's development, and is also responsible for the total well-being of your children whilst on duty meaning she would also bathe and dress the child.She would liaise with you with regards to organising activities both inside and outside the home, depending on the age of the children.

She would help your child to develop through educational games and play and outdoor activities. She will also take and drop the children to and from school. A nanny is expected to take sole charge of your children and to work alongside you if required.

A nanny would not normally undertake any housekeeping duties such as cleaning or cooking other than for the children in her care. She would normally only be responsible for the cleaning of the children's bedrooms and playrooms, laundry and cooking meals for the children.

For older children the nanny would also be able to supervise homework and help with school runs.

Typical Nanny Qualifications

Most nannies will hold a Childcare qualification or have significant experience.

Nanny Working hours in London and Overseas

Live in Nannies generally work from: 5-6 days per week, 8 to 12 hour days

Live in Nannies sometimes work 24 hours 5 to 6 days per week if the family requires

Nanny Salaries

For live in Nannies working 5 to 6 days per week average salaries range from:

£2300-4800 per month depending on experience

If working 24 hours on call:

£4500-6500 per month

Travel

When travelling nannies are often required to work extra hours and if any days off are missed these should be taken as an additional day off on return from travel.

Rota Nannies Work 1 week on 1 week off or 1 month on 1 month off, whilst working they are on duty 24 hours

Accommodation

Nannies expect to have their own bedroom and bathroom or private studio

If you employ a live in nanny she would expect all meals and a live out nanny would need all meals when on duty

Holiday’s Allowance

Worldwide nannies are entitled to a minimum of 30 days paid holiday per year
